Apprentice News

Meet Christian – a first-year apprentice hosted at Glenelg BMW and training to become a light vehicle technician through MTA Training and Employment. His journey began back in Year 10 with school work experience, and now he’s living the dream in a state-of-the-art BMW workshop.

With no family background in the trade, Christian found inspiration in his grandfather’s car, which was handed down through generations. That connection sparked a deeper interest and gave him the motivation to pursue a career in the automotive industry.

“I’ve always had an interest in cars,” he shared. “I started with basic oil changes on my own car, then got into modifying it. I’ve lowered my VX Commodore and have a Toyota 4Runner I’ve been working on. Engines have always fascinated me.”

Working at BMW, Christian feels right at home in the setting he’s always wanted.

“My host employer has been great. The facility is amazing, everyone’s supportive, and I really feel like I fit in. The people, the place, and the cars… It’s everything I wanted.”

When he’s not in the workshop, Christian enjoys watching both local footy and the AFL. A former player himself, he brings that same team mindset and energy into the workshop each day.
