The Eyre Peninsula will be at the heart of the latest automotive technology and opportunities.
Back in September, the MTA announced we would be investing in a significant upgrade to our Cleve Automotive Skills Centre, with funded support from the Government of South Australia under the Skills Centre Pilot program.
Last week, MTA Chair Frank Agostino, fellow MTA Board member, Peter Roberts and CEO Darrell Jacobs were pleased to join dignitaries for a tour and update on the progress of works, scheduled to be completed in early 2024.
Work is well underway, which will see a new workshop expansion, built to house larger heavy vehicles and agricultural machinery. The upgrade will incorporate state-of-the-art automotive and agricultural technology, allowing the MTA to expand its apprenticeship offerings and expand its scope of training by making the facility a full-time operation.
The centre will also connect job seekers to local employers in the mechanical, agricultural machinery, and automotive electrical industries, providing trading on modern agricultural and heavy vehicle machinery.
This strong commitment to regional training would not have been possible without generous support from the State Government and District Council of Cleve, as well as backing from local industry and community.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended, including Minister for Education, Training and Skills Blair Boyer MP, MTA Chair Frank Agostino, District Council of Cleve Mayor Phil Cameron, District Council of Cleve CEO David Penfold, MTA Board member Peter Roberts, and Member for Flinders Sam Telfer.
