Lachlan Hall is a Year 11 school-based apprentice completing his Heavy Diesel Mechanic and Auto Electrical dual trade at Attention to Detail Professional Services. From a young age, he’s been passionate about engines and machinery, and his apprenticeship is giving him the hands-on experience he loves.
Growing up, Lachlan spent hours working on dirt bikes with his dad, riding and maintaining them together. He’s also helped out at his dad’s crane company and has done work on his own car and bikes. “I’ve always had an interest in engines, motors and heavy diesel work,” Lachlan explains, “so getting practical experience was the obvious next step.”
He discovered the MTA through his dad and was drawn to a role where he could problem-solve and get hands-on, rather than sit behind a desk. He also appreciates the team at Attention Detail. “Jackson, the boss, was very welcoming, the music is always playing while we work, and the team is great,” he says.
Choosing a dual trade apprenticeship made sense for Lachlan. “It gives you extra skills and experience,” he says. He enjoys the variety the industry offers, from cars and trucks to tractors and excavators and the chance to learn across different machines.
Looking ahead, Lachlan plans to qualify in his trade and eventually explore the possibility of his own mobile servicing business. With his hands-on approach and dedication, he’s building a strong foundation for a successful career in the automotive industry.
