Meet John, a third-year panel-beating apprentice hosted at Wise Crash Repairs in Murray Bridge. John has come a long way since starting his apprenticeship, and he’s enjoying the journey.
“When I started my first apprenticeship, they sent me to the MTA, and since then, I’ve had the chance to meet a lot more people and build great connections.
For John, the best part of his job is seeing customers’ reactions when they pick up their freshly repaired and painted cars. “Seeing their car look brand new again is such a great feeling. It’s even better when family and friends come in for work because it shows they trust my work.”
When he’s not working hard in the workshop, John enjoys taking his Nissan Skyline 370GT for a drive. “I went for something different. Everyone goes for a Commodore or Falcon, but the Skyline has more horsepower, a sleek design, and a great interior – and the cost difference wasn’t much.” With some custom skirts and a new muffler, his car is hard to miss. “It’s sitting on 19-inch wheels for now, but I’m planning to upgrade them soon.” He’s also looking to add Japanese number plates. “The green and white text will give it a cool look like it’s straight out of Japan.”
John’s dream car is the Nissan 370Z, which shares the same engine as his Skyline. “I got it for half the price, and it’s got the same engine – that’s pretty cool.”
Outside of work, John enjoys meeting up with local car enthusiasts for cruises and events. “There’s a Facebook page where we plan cruises with the lads. It’s a great way to meet people and have fun with our cars.”
Working alongside a great team at Wise Crash Repairs has made John’s apprenticeship even more rewarding. “The team is fantastic, my boss is great, and I’ve got some really good mates at work. It’s a pretty steady place to be, and it feels good to be part of such a supportive community.”
Keep up the great work, John – you’re doing an amazing job and we’re excited to see where your apprenticeship takes you!
