Lachlan, a school-based apprentice at Rosewarne Automotive, is already on track to becoming a skilled light vehicle technician. His journey into the automotive world started early, inspired by his dad, the foreman at Rosewarne. “When I was about five, my dad would take me to Rosewarne to help with family car servicing,” Lachlan said. “Watching him, I knew this was what I wanted to do.”

As Lachlan grew older, he joined his dad on RAA callouts and worked alongside him on the tow truck, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Not long after, he came across an email at school about an apprenticeship opportunity at Rosewarne. “I saw it and thought, ‘Finally, I get to do this.’”

The teamwork and encouragement at Rosewarne make Lachlan’s apprenticeship adds to the enjoyment of his apprenticeship. “Everyone’s always there to help, and having my dad as my boss is a bonus,” he shares.

Lachlan was introduced to the MTA through an interview with Tom Rosewarne, the company’s owner. “Tom explained what the MTA does, and I found out my dad does Ford and Hyundai training there too. It’s great to be here,” he shares.

Lachlan loves working on engines, finding the challenge of figuring out how different cars are built exciting. “No two cars are the same, and I always learn something new,” he says.

His goal is to become a master technician, like his father, and work with brands like Hyundai, Ford, or Mitsubishi. “I want to build my career and reach the level my dad’s at,” Lachlan shares. For Lachlan, the automotive industry is more than just a job. “It’s hands-on work with machinery that helps people get from point A to point B,” he says.

We look forward to seeing Lachlan’s rewarding career unfold in the automotive industry.
