Memphis
A school-based apprentice from St Patrick’s Technical College, Memphis is training to become a light vehicle technician at Willaston Auto Body Repairs. Growing up surrounded by cars and a family involved in mechanics and racing, his love for cars runs deep.
“I was offered a work trial at my host employer and after three days, I really enjoyed the experience. They invited me back for another week, and last week, I learned they wanted to hire me as an apprentice, which was amazing! I got along with everyone from day one.”
“From a young age, I’ve always wanted to be a mechanic. I’m excited to start this journey and pursue my dream officially. I look forward to building my skills and learning more about what I love.”
Max
Max, a student from Sacred Heart, is pursuing a heavy diesel apprenticeship at Detrac Diesel Repairs in Saint Mary’s. Despite his dad’s preference for motorbikes and cars, Max’s passion for trucks started early. After a five-day work experience, he knew he had found the right place for his apprenticeship.
“With only the owner and one other employee at my workplace, I can’t wait to get to know them and get hands-on with trucks, which is my area of interest.”
“When I’m not at school or working, I enjoy hanging out with friends. I just got my P’s, so I love taking drives, working on cars, and helping my dad with his ute. We’ve worked on the exhaust, intercooler, pipes, had it tuned, and installed a new audio system and second battery.”
Max and Memphis are great examples of young people following their passions. We can’t wait to see where their careers lead!
