The below was originally sent to Body Repair Division Members on Tuesday 4 February 2024 from MTA SA/NT CEO Darrell Jacobs.
I recently joined Body Repair Specialists Division Chair Dario Tonon, MTAmembers and staff for a meeting with representatives from the RAA. Thisfollowed a number of member concerns raised with the MTA regarding:
- The RAA, Allianz acquisition announcement
- The RAA partnership with ADAS Solutions; and
- The RAA Approved Repair Network.
This was our first opportunity to put forward the questions that many of you have shared with us over the past weeks.
While discussions are continuing, I can provide the following updates:
- The MTA has requested that RAA review its $40 standard charge forarranging the calibration with ADAS Solutions and use of the repairer’sspace (if required).
- RAA expects a new online booking tool for ADAS Solutions to beoperational soon.
- RAA reiterated it expects its 48-hour service level agreement withADAS Solutions will be met.
- RAA confirmed that a repairer is able to complete their own “in-house”calibration if they are an RAA Approved Repairer and adhere to theconditions in their email to industry dated 7th January 2025.
- RAA will authorise ADAS calibrations from the OEM/dealer if theyreceive a letter from the OEM/dealer that it is required.
The RAA, Allianz merger is subject to regulatory approval from theACCC and some decisions, including new Approved Repairer applications are on hold until this process has concluded. - RAA collision and caravan Approved Repairers are expected to sit within their insurance arm, whereas other Approved Repairers such as mechanical are expected to remain with RAA Group.
The MTA made clear our members desire to have more open communication with the RAA.
Pleasingly, the RAA are supportive for the MTA to host future round table discussions involving our members. We will keep you informed of when this will occur.
