The MTA recently welcomed Federal Minister for Skills and Training, Brendan O’Connor, to our Royal Park Training Centre, where exciting news was announced for aspiring automotive apprentices. Minister O’Connor revealed an expansion of the New Energy Apprenticeships Program, with apprentices now eligible for $10,000 incentives.

Accompanied by MTAA Chair Frank Agostino, MTAA CEO Matt Hobbs, and MTA SA/NT representatives, the Minister emphasised that this initiative responds to industry feedback and aims to encourage more young people to pursue careers in automotive.

Lucy, a student pursuing a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology at MTA, expressed her enthusiasm for the expanded incentives. She believes this initiative will inspire more students like herself to choose a career path that aligns with Australia’s shift towards clean energy, particularly in servicing and supporting the growing hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) fleet.

The MTA looks forward to seeing more passionate individuals join the automotive workforce, contributing to Australia’s sustainable and innovative future in the clean energy sector.
