Apprentice News

Meet Tano, a third-year light vehicle apprentice currently hosted at Adelaide BMW.

“Before this new car, I was really into BMW cars, which is ironic since I work at a BMW dealership. But I decided to switch things up and picked a sporty 2015 Subaru WRX recently. It had some cool modifications when I bought it.”

Here’s a rundown of the modifications made to the WRX:

  • TE37’SSL
  • ECUTec Tune and ECU
  • Whiteline Adjustable Heavy Duty Rear Sway Bar
  • MRT Full S/S Exhaust System
  • STI Front Lip
  • Brembo Brakes
  • Perrin Short Shifter
  • Neomax Silvers Coilovers (Originally had MCA blue coilovers, started lightly knocking, can be rebuilt)
  • Mishimoto intake/air filter
  • Mishimoto top mount intercooler

Tano mentioned, “I just installed the STI spoilers. I’m not trying to pretend it’s something it’s not, but I really like the STI style, and that’s what I want for my car. While the car is impressive as is, I’m mostly thinking of cosmetic changes, like adding OEM badges to give it more personality. Right now, it’s all black, which I’m not a fan of. I might have more ideas for modifications later, but I’m happy with it at the moment,” he said.

“In terms of my work, most days at the dealership, I do regular services, but sometimes I get to work on different tasks. For example, I recently worked on a Mini, replacing its harmonic balancer and bottom timing cover. Mostly, our focus is on services because we’re a dealership, but I got the chance to help remove an engine recently, which was a great experience for me as a third-year apprentice too,” he added.

Tano finds it rewarding to fix something and receive positive feedback from customers. “Seeing them happy, going from ‘my car is broken’ to ‘it’s as good as new’ when we return their vehicle is really satisfying.”

“I’m not entirely sure about my future, but I do love this industry and working hands-on. Right now, my main goal is to become qualified,” he said.

Outside of work and cars, Tano spends time at the gym, hangs out with friends, and enjoys a casual beer. He also mentioned being a fan of motorcycles and owning a Yamaha R3. “It’s nothing crazy, but it’s a lot of fun. I usually ride it to work because it’s more fuel-efficient and makes navigating through traffic easier,” he shared.

Thanks for being our Mod of the Month, Tano!
