In 2023, the MTA Apprentice Employment Team remained committed and focused on securing future apprentices by organising and taking part in several events.
The MTA hosted four Careers in Auto Open Nights, where we highlighted the wide range of career paths available through the MTA. Our paint and panel night was a big hit, exciting many young people about a rewarding career in automotive.
In August, the MTA organised South Australia’s largest automotive careers event, attended by over 400 participants. The 2023 MTA Automotive Careers Day was filled with learning, fun, and inspiration for the next generation of automotive professionals, featuring hands-on activities like vehicle spray painting and a pit stop tyre change challenge. We’re excited about our 2024 MTA Automotive Careers Day, scheduled for August 15th to 16th!
At events like the Adelaide Motorsport Festival and Adelaide Careers & Employment Expo, we highlighted our leadership in Electric Vehicle (EV) training. These events attracted students, parents, teachers, graduates, and job seekers interested in exploring different career paths within the automotive sector.
David Warren, MTA’s School’s Pathway Coordinator, has been hard at work visiting schools, engaging students in our work experience program, and encouraging more students to apply for an apprenticeship at the MTA. Additionally, the MTA sponsored a number of important events and award nights at schools. We look forward to doing the same this year. It’s always gratifying for the MTA to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of the automotive industry’s up-and-coming professionals.
In recent times, the MTA has witnessed a growth in the number of school students registering for Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (AUR20520). This results in an increased pool of apprentices who are ready for work, both full-time and school-based, for the industry.
2024 brings anticipation for the MTA as we gear up for upcoming events, including those we’ll be organising. We are eager to inspire and foster the interest of young people in pursuing automotive apprenticeships.
