Over the past year, the MTA has hosted a series of successful events aimed at inspiring and educating students about career pathways in the automotive industry. These events provided hands-on experiences, industry insights and valuable networking opportunities for students, educators, and employers alike. Below is a recap of the key events held over the past year.

MTA Careers in Auto Open Night (Paint and Panel) – February 28, 2024

The first Careers in Auto Open Night of 2024 focused on the Paint and Panel sector, giving students a close look at the skills and opportunities within automotive refinishing and body repair. Hosted at MTA’s state-of-the-art training facility, attendees engaged in interactive demonstrations, met experienced trainers, and explored the latest tools and technologies used in the trade. The event successfully showcased the creativity and precision required in this field, sparking interest in a new wave of apprentices.

MTA Careers in Auto Open Night – July 10, 2024

This general Careers in Auto Open Night expanded on previous events, welcoming students interested in all facets of the automotive industry. With hands-on activities, presentations from industry professionals, and discussions on the latest advancements in automotive technology, the event provided a well-rounded introduction to the diverse career opportunities available. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of apprenticeship pathways and the support available through MTA.

2024 MTA Automotive Careers Day – August 15–16, 2024

One of the largest career-focused events of the year, the 2024 MTA Automotive Careers Day was an immersive two-day experience. Held at MTA’s training facilities, the event featured interactive workshops, live demonstrations, and panel discussions with industry leaders. Students participated in hands-on activities such as pit stop challenges, parts identification, spray painting, and introductory auto servicing sessions. The event emphasised the high demand for skilled automotive professionals and provided a platform for students to connect with potential employers and training providers.

Paint and Panel Information Night (Eblen Collision Repairs) – October 30, 2024

In collaboration with Eblen Collision Repairs, this event provided an in-depth look into the Paint and Panel industry. Attendees toured a professional collision repair facility, observed expert demonstrations, and engaged in Q&A sessions with industry veterans. The night offered valuable insights into the career pathways within refinishing and body repair, highlighting the technical skills and attention to detail required to succeed in this trade.

MTA Careers in Auto Open Night – October 30, 2024

To close out the year, MTA hosted another Open Night designed to connect students with industry professionals and showcase apprenticeship opportunities. This event reinforced the importance of vocational training and demonstrated the evolving landscape of the automotive industry. Attendees explored various career options, learned about employer expectations, and gained practical advice on how to kickstart their journey in the trade.
