Meet Emma, the Apprentice Services Manager at MTA, dedicated to guiding apprentices and students on their career paths. Emma, along with the Customer Service Team, serves as a valuable point of contact for those seeking guidance on school-based apprenticeships.

In school-based apprenticeships at MTA, students usually start in year 11 with the FIPs (Flexible Industry Pathways) – VETRO program, which is part of their school education. In year 10, they explore their chosen fields, and in year 11, they can pursue a certificate two program provided by MTA. Some students may directly enter school-based apprenticeships if they have enough credits from earlier subjects.

In year 11, school-based apprentices have two years to finish their trade school training and earn 50+ credits (depending on how many days allocated to the off the job training). MTA offers school-based apprenticeships through GTO and RTO channels. Emma collaborates with schools and employers to ensure students receive the necessary trade school education hours.

Emma coordinates with schools, aligning with their timetables and providing direct support to students. This process involves referral forms, guidance on SACE credit requirements, work hours, and experience.

Upon finishing school-based apprenticeships and obtaining SACE credits, students smoothly transition into full-time apprenticeships.

MTA also offers a 12-month Cert 2 in auto servicing, which provides 50 SACE stage two credits and serves as an ideal introduction to an automotive career, helping students decide if they want to pursue apprenticeships.

As the Apprentice Services Manager, Emma oversees the Customer Service Team who look after VET in Schools, school-based apprenticeships, full-time apprenticeships, and the GTO employment induction and administration, ensuring that everyone receives excellent service and support in all aspects of their apprenticeship or educational pursuits.
