Protect Your Business Against Cyber Threats

Industry News
Cyber security risks are a persistent threat to businesses of all sizes, and protecting your operational data and accounts is critical.

We strongly encourage you to review and implement the following key protective measures immediately to secure your business:

3 Essential Protection Steps

  1. Activate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Ensure MFA is enabled on all critical accounts (banking, email, social media, supplier portals). This is the single most effective way to prevent account compromise.
  2. Maintain Regular Backups: Perform and test regular backups of all critical data. Ensure the backups are stored separately (offline or in the cloud) so a successful attack cannot compromise both your live data and your recovery copies.
  3. Keep Systems Updated: Install software and device updates promptly. These updates often contain critical patches for known security vulnerabilities.

Immediate Recovery Steps
If you suspect your business or personal accounts have been hacked or compromised, take these steps immediately to limit damage:

  • Disconnect: Disconnect the affected computer or network from the internet immediately to stop further unauthorized access.
  • Change Passwords: Change all passwords and passphrases immediately, especially for banking and email accounts.
  • Scan for Malware: Run a full scan using up-to-date antivirus software to identify and remove any malicious files.
  • Report: Contact your financial institution if funds or financial details were stolen. Report the cybercrime via ReportCyber.

For comprehensive guidance and resources on recovery, please refer to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).

ACSC 24/7 Hotline: For immediate assistance, call 1300 CYBER1 (1300 292 371).
