For Samuel, an automotive refinishing apprentice at Premier Panel Services, attention to detail is everything. It’s what drew him to the industry in the first place, along with the satisfaction of restoring cars to their former glory – or even better. Knowing that he’s helping customers feel confident in their vehicles is what keeps him motivated every day.
Samuel couldn’t be happier with his host employer. “The support there has been absolutely amazing. They’re always ready to answer any questions I have, and the great vibes make it an incredible place to work.” Having a strong team behind him has made his apprenticeship both enjoyable and rewarding.
Seeing a car go from damaged to pristine condition is what Samuel loves most about his job. “Starting with a car that has dents and worn paint, and then watching the transformation unfold – it’s just so satisfying. The best part is seeing the customer’s reaction. Knowing I’ve made someone’s day makes it all worth it.”
For now, Samuel is taking his career one step at a time, but he has his sights set on airbrushing and custom decals down the road. “I’m happy to keep learning and improving, and once I’ve developed the right skills, I’d love to work on my own car.”
Like many apprentices, Samuel wasn’t always sure what career path to take. But work experience showed him that automotive refinishing was the right fit. “The hands-on environment, the process, and everything that goes into it really made me realise this is something I want to pursue.”
When he’s not working, Samuel is all about staying active. Whether it’s playing tennis or soccer, spending time with family and friends, or enjoying a game night, he makes the most of every moment.
Samuel believes the automotive refinishing industry will always be in demand. “Once people understand what we do, they’ll see how important it is. No matter where you go, there’s always something new to learn, and you’re surrounded by people who support you. It’s a career that keeps you growing.”
For Samuel, this journey is just beginning, and he’s excited to see where it takes him.
