The MTA is excited about the recent surge in student enrollment for the Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (AUR20520).
Meet Lucia, a student currently enrolled in the program. Growing up on a farm, Lucia always dreamt of working on the large trucks that frequently passed by. Now, her dream has come true, and she’s focused on succeeding in her chosen career.
Her passion for cars, especially Holden’s, intensified after attending MTA’s 2023 Automotive Careers Day. “During the event, my friend Zali and I sat in a big truck. At that moment, I just knew this was the path for me. My heart is set on working on heavy vehicles and larger machinery.”
Lucia draws inspiration from her Opa (grandfather), a skilled panel beater, and her experiences helping him in his small workshop.
Excitedly joining the MTA’s Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology program, she looks forward to learning essential skills like basic automotive servicing operations, inspecting vehicle systems and becoming familiar with a range of tools used in automotive workshops. Her goal is to finish the course and land a full-time apprenticeship.
