Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more common as consumers select greener transport options. EVs commonly contain lithium-ion batteries and come with associated risks and hazards (including fire and explosion, radiation, heat, chemical and electrical).
This course is a must for anyone who owns or works around Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) or Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV).
COURSE DETAILS
As BEV’s and HEV’s become more common, it is important to have a basic understanding of these vehicles to ensure we are safe, and we have an understanding of the basic operational principles.
This course is tailored specifically for students with limited exposure to BEV’s and HEV’s that are looking to expand their knowledge.
This course is ideal for:
- Automotive industry workers not involved in the repair of the vehicle
- Automotive industry workers involved in the pre-delivery of vehicles
- Anyone who owns a BEV or HEV
- An employer who supplies staff with BEV’s or HEV’s as company vehicles
COURSE OUTLINE
- Introduction to HEV and BEV model types
- Basic operating principles and component purpose
- Vehicle operation at a customer level
- Charging procedures
- Safety awareness
- Routine inspection and maintenance requirements
COURSE OUTLINE
- Revisiting core concepts of voltage, resistance, current, and circuit theory
- Confidently use diagnostic tools such as multi-meters and test lights for real-time problem solving
- Interpreting basic wiring diagrams and applying them to fault-finding scenarios
- Practising proven methods for diagnosing and repairing low-voltage (12V) systems
- Loom repairs, consisting of soldering, crimping, and heat-shrinking repairs
- Learn best practices for electrical testing and safety in modern workshop environments
- Build confidence to tackle increasingly electric vehicle systems
